STAN BRUNT

JAZZ GUITARIST

Hi! Thanks for making an enquiry into hiring us to play at your event. Below are some commonly asked questions that will hopefully speed up the process and/or help you decide if we are the right fit to play for you.

WHAT MUSIC DO YOU PLAY?

We are all professional and student jazz musicians and we sound our best playing traditional jazz standards in the style of Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. We are, of course, open to requests for any special music you’d like us to play on the day but learning music does take time so please let us know this at least 2 weeks before the event.

WHAT IS THE LINEUP?

We are usually a 4-piece band – Vocals, Trombone, Guitar, Double Bass. I am more than happy to change instrumentation based on the event that you have booked us for. We can provide a 2-piece (Guitar + Bass) or even just a solo guitar gig. I’m happy to discuss and help you make a decision that’s right for the venue and your event.

HOW DOES IT WORK ON THE DAY?

Unless you request otherwise, we will arrive 30 minutes before we are due to start. It will only take us around 10 minutes to set up but we like to have extra time just in case. We will then play 1 set, take a break and do another set. Each set is 45 minutes and we will take a 15/30 minute break before the next.

HOW LONG CAN YOU PLAY FOR?

Our normal length is 2 x 45 minute sets with a break in between. Please talk to me if you would like a third set and I’ll quote you a price for this (see below). We can’t always be flexible on the day, though we’ll always do our best, but it’s much better if this is arranged beforehand.

WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

We charge £75/h per musician. Each hour is 45 minutes of music and a 15 minute break. For example, a 4-piece band for 2 sets would cost £600. All payment will go through me to make it easier for you and I will invoice you after the gig. If you would like a third set (ie 3 hours in total our rate will go up to £100/h.

OTHER SMALL THINGS

  • We will follow any dress code you set, I will be in contact to check what you want from us
  • Although we do not require feeding, this is always welcome and may make the music sound better 😉
  • It is usually good for image if we can have somewhere to store our cases and bags out of the way. If you could arrange this with the venue, that would be great
  • We will provide all amplification, all we will need is a power socket nearby
  • If the gig is outside, please make sure there is shelter for us from the weather

I look forward to hearing from you! Please do get in touch with any questions that I haven’t covered here. I wish you all the best with your event and hope to be there.
